Assessment of Grades
The following grade codes shall apply in all course work undertaken:
- A+ Distinction
- A Distinction
- B+ Meritorious
- B Very Satisfactory
- C+ Clear Pass
- C Bare Pass
- D+ Bare Fail
- D Definite Fail
- F Fail in Practicals/Industrial Attachment
- P Compensatory Pass /
- pass in industrial attachment
- NE No Exam taken
- LT Left without Permission
- DQ Disqualified
- WP Withdraw with Permission
- EX Exempted
- DEF Deferred
- FCA Failed Continuous Assessment
- NAT Insufficient Class Attendance
- PC Proceed and Carry
The Grading System
The grades for the assignments and final examination results will be determined as follows:
Percentage | Grade | Description |

85 and above | A+ | Distinction |
76 – 84 | A | Distinction |
68 – 75 | B+ | Meritorious |
62 – 67 | B | Very Satisfactory |
56 – 61 | C+ | Definite Pass |
50 – 55 | C | Bare Pass |
40 – 49 | D+ | Bare Fail |
0 – 39 | D | Definite Fail |
Degree Classification
Bachelor’s degrees shall be classified as:
A – Distinction B – Merit C – Credit D – Pass
In calculating the grade of the degree, points will be awarded for the grades obtained in the third and final year courses as follows:
